Although I was born and raised on the east coast, the first time I set foot in Hawai'i I knew I was home. In fact, this was my home while I attended the University of Hawaii in Manoa and received a Master of Science degree in Geology and Geophysics. My focus was the Big Island and my thesis consisted of mapping the leeward side of North Kohala. (Did you know that the youngest rocks/lava flows on Kohala are approximately 100,000 years old!).
My first career was that of a professional geologist. That entailed many moves around the country, which also meant buying and selling quite a few homes. In the years my husband and I lived in the Atlanta, Georgia area, we also started acquiring rental real estate. Throughout my career moves, as I became more familiar with the intricacies of the purchase and sale of real estate, and the considerable differences that occur between the States, I became more and more interested in real estate as a profession. Thus when we moved back to the Island of Hawai'i, specifically North Kohala, I began my career as a Realtor. Since then I've earned my GRI (Graduate Realtor Institute) designation, thereby making the commitment to provide a high level of professional services by securing a strong educational foundation; as well as my SFR (Short Sales & Foreclosure Resource) Certification that allows me to serve as a resource for sellers and buyers in the brokerage of distressed properties.
